In the final days of summer and for the eighth time since 2015, Flower Piano will again transform San Francisco Botanical Garden into the city’s own alfresco concert hall where everyone is invited to play and listen.

Participants are invited to explore the Garden’s global living plant collections as they seek out the 12 pianos spread out across the 55-acre living museum. At each of the pianos, there will be scheduled professional performances, open play time for visitors, and community partner performances—reflecting a range of genres, ages, and cultures. The experience brings joy, hope, awe, and a deep sense of community.

Flower Piano is just two weeks away! When the Botanical Garden transforms into an alfresco concert hall, the majestic Celebration Garden will become the Flower Piano Lounge.

Top Performances:

Friday, September 8, 4-8pm: Alex Conde, Jazz flamenco virtuoso pianist playing Albeniz, Monk, Powell and originals.

Saturday, September 9, 10am-2pm and 4-8pm: Van-Anh Nguyen presents classical reimagined and house music unplugged in the early slot, and Lavay Smith and the Red Hot Skillet Lickers, an eight-piece band, presents swing, blues, and New Orleans music in the afternoon!

Sunday, September 9, 10am-2pm: The Orange Sunshine, an incredible Bay Area band have prepared a special Brazilian session featuring verses from some amazing artists like Milton Nascimento, Azymuth, Joao Bosco, Hermeto Pascoal, and Banda Black Rio.

Brunch and dinner will be available for purchase in mornings and evenings in the Lounge, in addition to beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages. Join us for one day or enjoy the Lounge all weekend with a Flower Piano Lounge All Access Pass.

The Flower Piano Lounge will host this year’s Special Opening Night Event on September 7, featuring Latin Grammy award-winning tango pianist, arranger, and composer Pablo Estigarribia accompanied by tango dancers.
