Introducing a new addition to the Living415 Collection: Vince Nguyen Bui

October 14, 2018

I started to notice last year that some things were harder. I was active: doing pilates 2x a week and walking 12,000 steps a day, but not feeling strong. I found through some research that it was likely that at my age (which is not all that old) I was already starting to lose muscle mass. According to some articles I read, people start losing muscle mass as young as 35! By the time they are 70, they can lose up to 25%, and I decided I was feeling it. I was also inspired by one of my friends, Meredith, who was lifting big weights – really big ones, over her head … and she’s about 5’2″.

I decided I was going to try strength training and in particular lifting big weights like Meredith. Since last October, I have been regularly training with NSCA – Certified personal trainer Vince Nguyen Bui. I have to say that I feel a lot stronger and I am really happy with that. Sometimes he asks me to do things that are just, well, not possible – but maybe they will be in the future. Vince is funny and that helps. He is also well qualified. He has a BS in Nutrition Food Science from Chico State and is a USA Weight Lifting Advance Sports Performance Coach. He is the head coach of the Golden State Barbell Club as well. I am not ready for all that, but it’s fun to see them come home with medals.

If you are thinking of getting started doing strength training, or you want to take what you are doing to the next level, I highly recommend Vince. He can be reached here.

The 415 Collection is my list of personal favorites as well as nonprofits and businesses that people in my sphere have founded or support. Let me know if you are doing something I should add. You can check it out here: https://www.jenniferrosdail.com/the-living415-collection/
