SF Planning Department IS in the 21st Century

June 13, 2014

I have just been having the best time playing with this tool on the SF Planning Department Website. After having a frustrating time this morning trying to figure out when the Recorder is closed for Independence Day (could only find 2004 schedule), it is really nice to see part of the city government providing such a sophisticated resource.

I looked up my house, my listing on Tehama, my friend’s house, etc. I learned that you can link to zoning descriptions, find out if something is a designated “historical resource,” see permit history, planning history, when someone condo converted, complaints and a zillion other property related facts.

Take a look at the building you’re in right now. You’ll be surprised!
